Goodness, gracious, what a weekend. So busy and so relaxing at the same time. I’m looking forward to another week of being at home with nothing to do. Hope you’re enjoying your holidays!
Somehow, amidst all the hustle and bustle of Christmas Eve, I managed to make cupcakes. Some people stress eat, apparently I stress bake.
I spent lots of time making sure that the Christmas tree was in acceptable viewing condition. This year, our tree was metallic – all silvers and golds. For some strange reason, I decided that the tree should fade from gold at the top to silver at the bottom. I finally got it to work but it was not without difficulty. Next year, remind me to pick an easier theme.
We woke up Christmas morning to a white Christmas – at least for Nashville, Tennessee. The roads weren’t covered, it was only two inches, and I did not consider it a real snow (sometimes I can’t stand the jaded New Yorker I’ve become) but it made everyone here happy and it was a beautiful sight to see.
We spent the day opening presents by the fire. We took our time this year and it was lovely to not rush through everything.
We all managed to squeeze in an amazing Christmas dinner as well – roasted chicken and potatoes, topped off with a pavlova cake with raspberries. A wonderful way to end the day. As usual, full recipe breakdowns will follow later this week.
